Why not starting the New Year with some gardening?

It might sound strange, but winter is the perfect time to start gardening. This is because, while nature is resting and plants are getting ready to start blooming in spring, gardeners can get ready too by making plans, pruning, improving soil, buying seeds, and doing all the changes that are needed for the new growing season. 

In February, our Tuesday Gardening Group (link to group activity page) will be busy with many of these activities, while the Thursday Food Growing group is taking a break in order to allow some important works to be carried out in the Edible Yard (link to space’s page). Here are some gardening dates for your calendar:

 

Gardening Group

When: every Tuesday, 2pm - 4pm

Mosaic Workshop – 2nd session

We are creating a wonderful mosaic to place on our community pizza oven.

When: Monday 25th February

Where: Indoor, St Luke’s Community Centre

Trip to Kew

Visiting the restored and newly open Temperate House at Kew Gardens.

When: Friday 21st February.

Meet at St Luke’s to leave at 9.45 am. Return by 4.30-5 pm (although individuals can       return earlier if they wish). The group will reach Kew Gardens by public transport.

Where: Kew Gardens, Richmond, TW9 3AB
