About us Our people Board of Trustees Chief Executive Our Chief Executive is Michael Ryan, who began working with us on February 17, 2015. Michael brings nearly 20 years’ experience of managing and leading charities to St Luke’s. Previous roles include Director and Company Secretary of the Church Housing Trust in EC1, a fundraising charity for the homeless, unemployed and vulnerable. Prior to that, Michael was for seven years the Chief Executive of RADICLE, a charity which offers supported housing to homeless pregnant teenagers as well as day centres and lunch clubs to older people. Trustees St Luke's is governed by a Board of Trustees. Seven Trustees are individuals who live locally or have a special knowledge of, or connection to, the area (Co-optative Trustees). One Trustee is the Rector of St Giles' Church, Cripplegate or his or her substitute (Ex Officio Trustee). The remaining Trustees are selected by, and appointed from, outside organisations (Nominative Trustees). Raymond O’Halloran, Chair Ray has always held a strong belief in having an active role within the local community. He is a ‘local boy’, born and bred in Islington. He is chairman of his estate’s local Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (TRA), was a founding governor of the local school and he is involved in safeguarding and recruitment with them. Don Kehoe (Co-optative)Don joined the Board in July 2012 . He is a local resident and has brought up his family in Islington. In addition to running his own software company in Goswell Road, he is a trustee of the local charity, Help on your Doorstep, a director of London Capital Credit Union, and was involved in EC1 New Deal for Communities and its legacy work. Reverend David Allen (Ex-Officio)David is vicar of the church closest to the Community Centre, St Clement's, King Square. He was a former Board member of EC1 New Deal for Communities and is actively involved in the local neighbourhood. Debra Mendes (Co-optative)Debra became a Trustee in July 2012. Her background is software engineering and she spent many years at Reuters and the London stock exchange. Today she is the director of her own company specialising in business improvement consultancy. She worked in the area for 16 years, knows the area very well, and lives nearby. David Vasserman (Co-optative)David has been a General Practitioner at The Neaman NHS Practice since 1990. He has been involved in the medical education of undergraduate students and trainee junior doctors as well as being involved in the commissioning process with the City and Hackney CCG (clinical commissioning group). He has previous experience of working for a medical charity, and also as an external trustee. David is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and of the Royal College of Psychiatry. He has worked and lived in the local area for 27 years. Mary Durcan (Nominative - City of London Corporation)Mary is a Common Councilman for Cripplegate ward. She lives locally and has an interest in housing and community issues. She spent 6 years in the USA. Prior to that she was in Oxford where she was chairman and a trustee of the local Women's Aid group. She was a magistrate for 30 years and was chairman of the Family Panel. She worked in the NHS as a senior manager for several years and was involved as a volunteer officer with the local Scout Group. Kieran Wadia (Co-optative)Kieran became a trustee in 2019. He was born in London and has lived in the local area since 2012, spending a large part of his career working in the City. He has a strong belief in the value of positive role models and has seen this through his own community work with children. By profession he is a software engineer, and spent a decade at Goldman Sachs, before moving to a smaller firm. Valerie Bossman-Quarshie (Nominative - London Borough of Islington)Valerie joined St Luke’s Board of Trustees in August 2021. An Islington resident and local councillor for the Bunhill area, she has many years’ experience as a school governor, and as an educator, working with children and young people. She has been a frequent visitor to St Luke’s, and looks forward to bringing her enthusiasm and previous experience to bear upon her role as Trustee. Gemma Pimlott (Nominative)Gemma works in the investment management industry looking after public sector institutions including central banks, sovereign wealth funds and national pension schemes. She lives in EC1. Rosaline Ogunro (Nominative - London Borough of Islington)Rosaline lives a stone throw from St Luke’s Community Centre since 2001 and has been a regular user of the Centre since 2003. She is pleased to be back at the Centre as a trustee, to help continue the outstanding work it has been doing. Her background is in broadcasting and has been privileged to do some volunteering work in the community working with the elderly and people with learning disabilities, mentoring young adults and being a community ambassador for the London Symphony Orchestra. She has a diploma in English Law and a Bachelor of Law Honours degree and was recently elected as Councillor in Islington. Ruth Hayes (Nominative - London Borough of Islington)Ruth has lived in Islington for over 30 years, and has worked in the not for profit sector for most of her life. She worked at the local Law Centre for almost 20 years, and is now a Cllr for Clerkenwell ward and a part time carer, as well as working part time. She is interested in community development and activities which bring people together to build community connections, and those which address inequality and injustice. Joe Pak (Co-optative)Joe is a senior portfolio manager at Allianz Global Investors covering macroeconomic funds. Also passionate about creating things, he started Wilby Beer Co, a company specialising in lower alcohol beer. Joe is from the United States and has worked in London for more than 5 years and lives locally. Wee Kii Teh (Nominative)Wee Kii joined St Luke’s Board of Trustees in June 2022. Born in Malaysia, she has been living and working in London since 2012. By career she is an investment professional, and has spent the last 7 years working in the City. Since 2019 she has accumulated experience volunteering for / working with non-profit organisations based in London and Washington D.C. and hopes to bring her passion for community-building as well as previous volunteering and professional experiences to her role as a Trustee. Tolga Kizil (Nominative)Tolga has lived in the area since birth and since 2016 has worked in the public sector. He is part of his estate's TRA. Father Jack Noble (Nominative – St Giles’ Parochial Church Council, Cripplegate) Fr Jack is the Rector of St Giles Cripplegate. He joined St Luke’s when he came to the area as Rector in 2022. Having served in several London parishes of different kinds, Jack is committed to helping local people and communities flourish.
