We’re opening up St Luke’s Community Centre
Launch event: 10^th, 11^th and 12^th May 2019

St Luke’s is excited to announce that from Friday 10^th May 2019 we are extending our reach into the community by opening our membership up to all ages, not just people over 55. We will also be open longer hours, from Monday-Friday 9am-9pm and Saturday-Sunday 9am-4pm.

We are planning a launch event to celebrate these changes, which will be at our community centre from Friday 10^th to Sunday 12^th May. The aim of this event is to showcase all the activities and services currently available, to promote our exciting new activities and to begin registering new members. There will be a huge range of activities taking place over the weekend for people of all ages and interests so please do come along and invite your friends, your family and neighbours to join us.

Lots of non-members currently use the Centre on a daily basis for activities like gardening, cookery, exercise and after-school clubs, and this is our way of making them feel part of our special community hub.

New members will pay a one-off £5 lifetime membership fee (they must provide evidence that they live in the area of benefit), and will receive access to what's on offer at St Luke's. Registration will be free for anyone under 18 years of age whose parent/carer is registering or already registered.

St Luke's Room Hire in South Islington

Within easy walking distance of Old Street, Angel and Barbican tube stations and many bus routes, we have modern, well-appointed spaces for any meeting or event. We understand the uncertainty of booking a room. We have adapted our T&Cs so you can cancel with a full refund a week before your event.

What we do and who we help

We are a community hub in South Islington providing services, activities and events for local residents of all ages, including after school clubs, employment support and gardening for older people. Our large, modern community centre on Central Street is a great backdrop for our varied activities and we have several outdoor areas for visitors to enjoy. Our spaces are also available to hire for community groups or private functions.
Garden Room

The largest of our meeting rooms, the Garden Room has its own private entrance from the street and exclusive use of a terrace garden. It is a blank canvas to create the right setting and configuration for your event, and benefits from neutral, stylish décor and is flooded with dappled natural light.

Do you live in our area of benefit? You could become a member at St Luke's for a one-off charge of just £5. Our Centre offers services and activities every day for all ages, including art, exercise and gardening groups and a daily lunch club.
Lunches at St Luke's

Islington locals who are over 55 can enjoy a subsidised, freshly-made three-course lunch at St Luke's every weekday in our dining room. The menu changes daily, and includes a roast on Wednesday and fish and chip Friday! Anyone with mobility issues can discuss transport to and from the Centre with us. Find out more here.

Families and Children in South Islington

We offer a range of free activities and support for families living in south Islington. From free after school kids' clubs, giving children the opportunity to try different activities, to school holiday camps, there's something to suit every family. Find out what St Luke's has to offer.
The Loft

The Loft occupies the whole third floor of the Community Centre, and has exclusive use of an entrance (ante) room, kitchen area and toilet, within this spacious and versatile area. It is bright and airy, and ideal for meetings, conferences, training, seminars or less formal events. Its exposed Victorian steel beams and skylight windows offer wonderful views over the roof tops of London.

St Luke's may only use its own funds on charitable purposes supporting people living within a defined geographical area. We call this our area of benefit.
